The SecretLab Omega Gaming Chair offers good ergonomics and adjustability, but its lack of built-in lumbar support may be a deal breaker for some.

Product Snapshot

Overview

Announced in 2020, the Secretlab Omega Gaming Chair is a high-end pick available in a range of upholstery options. Like many top-tier office chairs, the Omega offers 4-way adjustable armrests, and its 165-degree reclining angle is also typical among the highest-rated gaming chairs. The chair also ships with memory foam neck and lumbar pillows, and it has a weight limit of about 240 pounds.

The BestOffice Ergonomic High Back Office Chair has a slightly higher 250-pound limit. In terms of size, the Omega offers a 22” x 19.3” seat and a 21” x 31.5” backrest, and all this is built onto a carbon steel frame supported by an aluminium base.

Consensus

our Verdict

The SecretLab Omega Gaming Chair is hailed as the holy grail of gaming chairs, as it offers good adjustability and varied upholstery options. Buyers can opt for premium PU leather, genuine NAPA leather, or Softweave Fabric, but none of these come close to the kind of breathability that a mesh fabric chair such as the X Chair ATR Management Chair offers. Nonetheless, owners will be able to configure the seat height range from 18.9” to 21.9” or recline its backrest up to 165°.

The chair also allows for tension adjustment for comfortable rocking, and its armrests are also 4-way adjustable, so they can be moved up, down, left, right, forward, backward, or diagonally. Unfortunately, there’s no adjustable lumbar support, and its seat depth is also not configurable.

Reason to Buy

  • Ergonomics and adjustability
    • The SecretLab Omega Gaming Chair’s seat height is adjustable by 3.7”, and its armrests are fully adjustable by about 3” for comfortable gaming sessions.

    • There’s a tension knob to adjust rocking tension, and the chair can also recline 165 degrees, but there’s no seat depth adjustment or built-in lumbar support.

  • Great build quality
    • The chair has a 240-pound weight limit and is supported by a sturdy aluminium base.

Reason to Avoid

  • No dedicated lumbar support
    • There’s no lumbar support mechanism built into the chair. However, it does ship with a lumbar pillow.

The Secretlab Omega Gaming Chair is the better choice for large individuals, with a 240-pound weight limit, significantly higher than the 290-pound weight limit of the Secretlab Titan gaming chair. However, the latter has a slightly higher 3.7” range of adjustment compared to the former, which is only adjustable by 3”. Lastly, the Omega has a snug fit seat base, while the Titan has a leveled seat base.

The Secretlab Omega Gaming Chair can recline up to 165 degrees, making it more comfortable to use for rest than the Noblechairs Hero TX, which only reclines up to 125 degrees. However, the Hero TX’s superior weight capacity of up to 330 pounds is higher than the Omega’s 240-pound weight limit. Here’s our Noblechairs Hero TX review for more info on what else it has to offer.

The Secretlab Omega’s 240-pound weight limit is inferior to the 330-pound weight limit offered by the Maingear Forma R Nero Gaming chair. We’ve covered the Forma R in our Maingear Forma R Nero Gaming Chair review if you’d like to learn more about it. If you prefer an alternative with mesh upholstery instead of PU leather, our ErgoCentric TCentric Hybrid Ergonomic Chair review might be worth a look.
